Robert C. Dughi

Executive Chairman of the Board

Until his retirement in 2005, Robert C. Dughi was the founder and CEO of one of the most successful distribution companies in the market segments targeted by U.S. Retirement Partners. He is recognized as a leading industry figure.

From 2000 to 2005, Mr. Dughi was president and member of the board of CitiStreet, a 50/50 joint venture between Citigroup and State Street Corp. CitiStreet is one of the largest global benefits companies in the United States, with 3,000 employees, more than 11 million participants and more than $230 billion in assets under administration. CitiStreet was recently acquired by ING.

In 1976, Mr. Dughi co-founded The Copeland Companies, which became a member of Citigroup. He was chairman and CEO for almost 30 years. As a national distribution firm and recordkeeper, the company was a leader in the public school (K-12), hospital and government markets, as well as the mid-size 401(K) market. The national field sales organization consisted of 25 sales offices with more than 500 sales representatives. Additionally, Mr. Dughi founded a proprietary mutual fund family that accumulated $3 billion in assets.

Mr. Dughi has been a member of the board of the National Academy Foundation (NAF) for more than a decade. NAF has developed specialized career academies for Public School systems for more than 25 years in hundreds of inner-city schools nationally. Through a partnership with school systems and the business community, students are provided with specialized curriculum as well as internships and mentoring in the identified disciplines (finance, information technology, hospitality, and engineering). The program was founded by Sandy Weill, the former head of Citigroup, and is now supported by a broad range of major corporations and foundations, including the Gates Foundation.

Mr. Dughi recently also completed an eight-year role as member of the executive committee of the board of Newark Academy in Livingston N.J.

Mr. Dughi, a resident of New Jersey, was awarded both a bachelor’s in arts and sciences and a master’s degree in business administration from Cornell University.

He is a principal and a financial principal with FINRA.
